High School Student Emily Campbell Tyler is a member of the RRHS chapter of SkillsUSA who was elected as a SkillsUSA State Officer at the NC SkillsUSA conference in April. Last week, Emily joined the North Carolina delegation at the 2022 SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference in Atlanta, GA where she underwent a week of extensive leadership training and delegate instruction. She has officially been chosen to fill the seat of Historian for the State Officer Team, and will serve in this capacity throughout the 2022-2023 school year. Please help us in congratulating Emily! We are so proud of her!
Emily's application and campaign for State Officer began with the assistance of RRHS SkillsUSA Advisors Lynn Moseley and Ginger Duncan. Emily was accompanied in Atlanta by RRHS SkillsUSA Advisor Ginger Duncan, who will be her local mentor and advisor for Emily's service in office next year. RRHS SkillsUSA advisors are Josh Clark, Lynn Moseley, Natalie Robertson and Ginger Duncan who work collaboratively to prepare our students. These advisors work tirelessly and dedicate countless hours in preparing our students for college and leadership in the workforce.

Roanoke Rapids High School is proud to recognize two very special students, Gabrielle Long and Meghan Beam. Gabrielle is the daughter of Joe and Nicole Long. Meghan is the daughter of Anthony and Leigh Ann Beam. This past Friday night, both of these students walked the stage as they graduated with the Class of 2022, but on Sunday morning, they walked the stage one more time as they were the first students ever from Roanoke Rapids High School to dually enroll in both Roanoke Rapids High School and the North Carolina School Science and Math (NCSSM) in Durham, NC. Completing the requirements to graduate from high school is difficult enough, but to attend two different high schools simultaneously is especially challenging. Both students were at the top of the class in Roanoke Rapids and also finished with a 5.0 GPA from NCSSM. The NCSSM actually falls under the University system in North Carolina and not the Department of Public Instruction making their courses exceedingly rigorous ensuring a balanced and high caliber education. Not only were they dually enrolled in two high schools but both students were also taking courses at the community college level through the Career and College Promise program completing enough courses to nearly earn an Associate Degree giving them credit to have most of their first two years at college already completed. Beam has been accepted at East Carolina University where she plans to major in Biology and pursue Forensic Science. Long has been accepted at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and has been offered guaranteed acceptance into the Eshelman School of Pharmacy straight out of high school. Roanoke Rapids High School is very proud of these two exceptional and groundbreaking students and looks forward to seeing what they do with their bright futures. #togetherwesucceed
