Thanks to Halifax Sheriff Wes Tripp, Chief Deputy Scott Hall, deputies, and the community for giving RRGSD students more than $10,000 in toys today. The toys were donated to the Sheriff's Toy Drive which helps hundreds of needy children each year.
This year's event was so successful, children at all nine of Halifax County's elementary schools will benefit. #RRGSDCommunity #KidsAreOurCustomers

RRGSD Media Statement: RRGSD received information of a possible safety concern Tuesday evening at Chaloner Middle School. Our principals, school resource officer, and administration performed a threat assessment and immediately turned the matter over to the Roanoke Rapids Police. In an effort to remain transparent, RRGSD alerted parents Tuesday evening by both social media and through the district’s phone and text alert system and requested additional law enforcement remain on campus during classes on Wednesday.
“I want to ensure our entire school community that this matter is being handled in accordance with district policies and procedures,” said Dain Butler, Superintendent. “I also want to applaud our staff for their immediate and proactive response.”
A preliminary investigation by RRPD indicates there is no immediate threat to Chaloner Middle School’s students and faculty at this time. Further information regarding the investigation will be released by RRPD at their discretion.
Additional law enforcement roamed the campus on Wednesday.
Safety and security of our students and staff remain a top priority. School officials take all threats seriously and we appreciate when students, parents, and the community report their concerns through our mobile app and website “report it” feature.

Parent Update: Our information is very limited as it relates to a threat we received at Chaloner Middle School. The matter has been turned over to the Roanoke Rapids Police Department for investigation. We are being as prompt as we can in letting our parents and the community know what we know. RRGSD has arranged for additional police officers to be on the Chaloner campus tomorrow. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Alert: We have a safety concern that has been brought to our attention early this evening at Chaloner Middle School. Administration has been in close contact with local law enforcement and has assured a safe campus for all of our students to return to tomorrow. We are in informing you to remain transparent with all school and community members.

Our hearts are heavy this morning after receiving news of the death of longtime English teacher Dallas Allen. Mr. Allen was a dedicated teacher and will be greatly missed around campus and in the community. We also understand this news is very difficult for all of us to accept and that we will need to support each other during the grieving process.
Â
Students, we want you to know that your teachers and administrators are here to help you in any way that we can. Â
We have also set up our counseling staff in the media center to assist any students who may want or need to talk with someone about how they are feeling.
