After consultation with the Halifax County Health Department, Roanoke Rapids High School has halted all football activities for two weeks following a positive COVID-19 test result within the program.
Following the contact tracing by the Halifax County Health Department COVID team and RRGSD staff, it was determined that all football student-athletes and select staff members will need to quarantine for two weeks.
The team may resume activities March 5. They will miss this week’s game against Granville Central and possibly next week’s game against Louisburg.
All student-athletes and coaches followed the safety protocols set forth by the Health Department, The North Carolina High School Athletic Association, and RRHS.
“The health and safety of everyone involved with RRHS Athletics is our top priority. I know this is disappointing news for our student-athletes, their parents, and fans but we must adhere to the state mandates. We also hope for a speedy recovery for those impacted. When we resume, we will continue to follow our strict protocols in order to keep everyone involved as safe as possible,” said Mark Snead, RRHS Athletic Director.
