Please Share: May 5 is Teacher Appreciation Day. During this time of crisis, our educators have acted as a “Lighthouse” for our students and their families, serving as beacons of light and hope and helping them safely navigate the educational challenges related to COVID-19. Let’s show our teachers how much we appreciate their love and unwavering commitment to North Carolina’s public schools by placing a light in a window or turning on an outdoor light at 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5 for 20 minutes. Please share your photos with us using the hashtag #NCLighthouseLeaders. Teachers, thank you for lighting the way for learning for North Carolina’s K-12 students. #NCLighthouseLeaders #KidsAreOurCustomers

5th Grade Parents: Unfortunately, the fifth graders did not get to tour Chaloner Middle School this spring in order to see, firsthand, the exploratory/enhancement classes they are able to choose. Chaloner has developed a video for parents and students to view describing their classes in hopes of helping students make wise decisions. The fifth grade teachers have added this video to their Google Classrooms to view. PLEASE take the time this weekend to watch the video with your child in order to make informed decisions for next year. Starting Monday, April 27th, students can go to their Google Classroom and register for their selections for the upcoming school year. Students will have until Tuesday, May 5th, to complete the registration process. The CMS counselors will call any student who does not complete a registration form. #KidsAreOurCustomers

Belmont Parents: When you pick up work packets this Wednesday between 10 a.m. and 12 noon, please remember to turn in your cover sheets for work packets 1 and 2. These important sheets help inform our teachers what students may need help with. They also let teachers know that you have been working hard at home. If you would like to scan, email, or send a picture of the cover sheet to your child's teacher, that would be another option. If you can't make the Wednesday work packet distribution, there will be self service boxes right beside the front doors of the school, where you can get the newest packets and turn in your cover sheets for previous work. We would like to thank all of our students for working hard and all of our parents for making this happen at home! #KidsAreOurCustomers

Additionally, a local non profit group, The Rewritten Story Foundation will be using our parking lot at Manning this Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday to hand out lunches from 10 a.m. to noon. #KidsAreOurCustomers

Belmont Bees: Here’s a fun Maker Space Activity. Pretend that you were hired to design a new playground at our school. Think about what it would look like. What are some things you would include? Using materials that you have at home create your playground. You can use paper, crayons, toilet paper rolls, cardboard, etc. to create your playground. Once you are done get someone to take a picture of your playground and post it in the comments. Have fun!
