Valencia Davis was recently recognized for her 14 years of dedicated service to the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District (RRGSD) as a Trustee on the Board of Education. Throughout her time on the board, Davis has been a passionate advocate for students, staff, and the community, demonstrating outstanding leadership and a deep commitment to education. For the past six years, she served as Vice Chair, helping guide critical decisions with wisdom and grace.
During the regularly scheduled meeting, Dr. Mike Williams, Board Chair, presented Davis with a resolution highlighting her selfless commitment and impact on the district. The resolution praised her desire to serve the community and make a meaningful difference in many lives. The meeting was then paused for a short reception.
In her heartfelt remarks, Davis expressed gratitude to those in attendance, including staff and visitors who came to support her. She reflected on her journey, emphasizing the importance of making a positive impact in the community. Davis described the RRGSD board as "child-centered and dedicated" and praised the district’s staff and administrators for their role in making RRGSD a desirable place to learn and work.
Ed Liverman was elected to fill the role of Vice Chair. The Board will discuss the necessary steps to fill the vacant seat at their next meeting on November 12, 2024.
