Process from the NC Driving School for Registration

Once we have a date confirmed with our instructor, we post it to our website. At this point, students/parent are able to register for the class and/or are able to see the registration date/time. They will need to be on the website at that registration date/time. Once the class is full, they will not be able to register for the class; however, there are often students/parents who register multiple times so the morning after the registration we come in and remove any duplicate entries, thus opening up seats in the class. Parents/students are then able to register on the website OR call us to see if any spots are available. We are always happy to help!

Process after the student has completed the class:

Once the student has completed the classroom phase of driver education, the students from each class are placed in order by date of birth from the oldest to the youngest and will be driven in that order. You should receive a call within 90-120 days for the driving part, this is to accommodate the backlog of students waiting to drive . Our instructors will do their best to work with your schedule. Most instructors drive afternoons, evenings, and on Saturdays. Some instructors drive mornings before school. There is no one-on-one instruction. There will be a total of two or three students in the vehicle at all times. Students will be picked up and dismissed from the school campus. It is the parents’ responsibility to provide transportation to and from driver education. It typically takes three to four days to complete the behind-the-wheel phase. On the last day of driving, the instructor will issue a completion certificate.

This certificate does not expire. You will then need to obtain a driver eligibility certificate which is provided by the high school and verifies that the student meets the requirements of the adequate progress law. The driver eligibility certificate expires 30 days from the issue date. Once you have these forms (along with your birth certificate and social security card) you may visit the DMV to apply for your permit.  We hope you have a pleasant and rewarding driver education experience. If we can be of any assistance, please call 1-800-375-6550 and speak with our office staff.
